From the Principal's desk...

July, 2008

Dear Each One,

As July comes to a close, the opening of another school year is just around the corner! Lots has been happening at our Lady of Guadalupe as we prepare for another wonderful, growth filled year with your children.  The teachers are already at work preparing the rooms and their plans for a year full of success for each of the students.  We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of the children!

You should have received a letter earlier this month with the following information, but as a gentle reminder, these are important dates for the first few days of school. Please remember having your child here on time, especially these days, helps them transition more easily from the summer schedule to that of the school day!

v      August tuition is due the first of August; this may be mailed in if necessary.

v      Books and materials fees are due by August 15th

v      The office will be open again beginning August 4th.

v      Many of you have asked about our gently used uniforms. We have MANY! We will sell those the week of August 11th from 10:00 -  1:00 pm.

v      August 14th is the first day of school for Pre-K with last names beginning A – M, Kindergarten  with last names beginning A – 0, and all of Grades 1 – 4.  Remember that that this is only a half day, 8:00 – 11:00. Bringing in your school supplies that day is a great help to the teachers.

v      August 15th is the first day of school for Pre-K with last names beginning N – Z, Kindergarten P – Z, and Grades 5 – 8. Again, this is a half-day for those students and we ask that school supplies be brought in that day also.

*****Please note, if your child is scheduled to come on the 14th, they DO NOT return to school until Monday August 18th.****

v      Monday August 18th is the first full day of school. Remember that Monday dismissal is at 2:15. Due to the construction of the new plaza, new directions on dismissal procedures will be given to you when you drop your child off on the 14th or 15th .

v      A reminder for 5th graders and any new students in Middle School: you are required to have a school lock on your locker.  These may be purchased at school for $5.00. Please put the money in an envelope with your name, grade, and “Lock Money” on the outside of the envelope. Also, Middle School students should all have their bibles. We have some gently used ones for $5.00, and new ones are $7.00.

Several people have emailed regarding the uniform. Boys wear the gray uniform pants (shorts are optional), white shirt (maroon shirt is optional), maroon vest, white socks and solid colored (white, black, gray, or blue) gym shoes (no slip ons). The girls in PreK – 4th grade have the plaid jumper (shorts optional), white shirt (maroon shirt is optional), white socks, and solid colored (white, black, gray, or blue) gym shoes (no slip ons). Middle school girls wear the plaid skirt (shorts optional), white shirt (maroon shirt is optional), white socks, and solid colored (white, black, gray, or blue) gym shoes (no slip ons)

I look forward to seeing all of you soon!  These halls are much too quiet without your children here! May these days ahead be filled with joy for each of you.

God Bless,

Ms. Costello

Principal
